Early last Wednesday morning, the 7th grade class and chaperones began their journey to Kentucky to visit the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter. Upon arrival, following a group photo, students enjoyed a meal and an engaging session with a Creation Museum speaker, Bryan Osborne. The group then departed for Potters Ranch to unpack and eventually bunk down for the night.
Thursday began with breakfast in the camp dining hall, which offered a beautiful view of the sunrise over wooded hills and deer on the lawns. We spent the day enjoying all that the museum has to offer—the walk-through tour, exhibits, gift shop, special presentations, gardens, camel rides, zip lines—and finished the day with a planetarium feature and star gazing through telescopes.
Friday morning offered another great breakfast and gorgeous views. Then it was off to Big Bone Lick State Park, “Birthplace of American Vertebrate Paleontology.” The students had a brief tour and lunch before departing for the Ark Encounter. Upon arrival the students were awed by the size and engineering that went into constructing such a massive vessel. Touring the exhibits and watching the videos on the 3 different levels proved quite the eye-opening experience. The Lord gave beautiful weather and kept us safe as we logged nearly 1,000 miles. It was a great trip.
