God is doing a good work in us and will complete it. Why? He wants us to be pure, blameless, and filled with the fruit of righteousness to reflect the glory of God. How does He do this? God wants us to increase in knowledge and wisdom so we can test and choose things that are excellent. This is the message Paul delivers to the believers in Philippians 1.
A number of tenets at BJA reflect this pursuit of excellence, including biblical worldview instruction, wise counsel from Christian teachers, and the development of critical thinking. These distinctives set us apart from public schools, charter schools, and many private schools where the God who is Truth has been banished.
Our students do well in every area they participate in. Why? Is it that we enroll only elite students? No, that’ is not the case. But, it makes sense that as students grow in their relationship with God, they are more and more motivated to pursue excellence in order to please God and bring glory to Him. Because of this motivation, they invest in their studies with a desire to be the best they can be for the glory of God. They realize the importance of discipline and character in their lives. They resist the temptations that are prevalent among students their age—in order to give preeminence to God. They invest in the fine arts and extracurricular activities to strengthen interests and skills they have. And they serve others effectively in order to point them to Christ. Of course, they don’t achieve 100 percent success in these endeavors because we are all God’s works in progress. But with BJA students, standardized test scores, college entrance test scores, extracurricular results, involvement in service opportunities, and Christlike attitudes —all these indicate an effective, above-average job. At BJA we set the bar high because we know that, with God’s motivation and help, students can achieve excellent results. And all the glory goes to God.
Bob Jones Academy exists to assist like-minded Christian parents in challenging students to love Jesus Christ, to embrace God’s truth, to exercise integrity, to pursue excellence, and to serve others.
