Dear Parent:
We’re almost there! Below you will find many details about our end-of-year activities as we accelerate to the close of this academic year. We’re looking forward to soon crossing the academic finish line on what has certainly been a very unusual track.
Graduation. We will soon send detailed information to our seniors regarding the graduation festivities next Thursday. You can watch it online (see below) or along a short “parade route” on campus. If you come to campus, I recommend that you park in the University parking garage. This is close to the parade viewing area, which is located from the 4-way stop between the girls’ dorms and the University’s science building to the BJA end of the Davis Field House grounds/parking garage. The area in front of the Academy Main will be reserved for the graduation staging. Access to the graduation procession will be restricted. If you attend, please adhere to social distancing protocol. Seniors will exit campus once they receive their diplomas. Given the current restrictions, we are unfortunately not able to permit congregating on campus.
Child Development Center (CDC). We are working toward a limited opening of the CDC on May 18. We anticipate the easing of restrictions that will allow us to open for children of Bob Jones employees while they are working on campus. Limited hours—8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.—will be necessary until staffing can be increased to meet the full schedule. We hope to open to all our enrolled children—including those who are not children of Bob Jones employees—in early June. Of course, plans may change as we continue to follow the local, state, and federal recommendations.
Summer camps. We are also working toward a phased opening of BASEcamp (formerly DayCamp) for our families. The first two weeks (week of Monday, May 18, and Memorial Day week) will be open for Bob Jones employees as part of their employment benefits—and an opportunity for our camp staff to implement procedures and policies in a controlled manner. This limited camper population will allow us to ensure a safe environment for both staff and campers as we work to create the best experience for camp—all in the ever-changing information regarding COVID-19. We plan to open to the full BJA family beginning the third week (week of Monday, June 1).
If your student is currently registered for Week 1 or Week 2 you will receive an email either giving details pertinent to employee children or to what this cancelation means for your account.
If you have any questions regarding BASEcamp, please contact us.
Summer music lessons. Summer lessons with PCS Music Artistry at BJU begin May 18—live virtual lessons online until we are able to give in-person lessons at the planned location, BJU’s Gustafson Fine Arts Building. Flexible summer scheduling options mean that lessons can easily fit within your summer plans. If your student is not currently enrolled with PCS and you would like to give your student a head start with music lessons this summer, enroll now. For more information, contact the Piano Central Studios office by email or at (864) 232-5010.
