Dear Parent:
Congratulations to the graduating Class of 2020! Big kudos as well to all of our students who have now crossed the finish line for this school year. What an unexpected ending and unique and memorable graduations for both our seniors and our K5 students. Check out the great photos of these and other close-of-year events on BJA’s Facebook & Instagram.
Looking back on this unusual end to our school year, while the faculty, staff, and students have worked hard and made many adjustments, parents have been an absolutely crucial part of the process. Thank you for your very helpful feedback as we were getting started, so we could make it more workable for you. Thank you for your encouragements and prayers for us. We appreciate being able to partner with you in the education of your children. That partnership took on a very different look and feel—thank you for your gracious and able adjustment, in spite of what included extra pressure for you.
I want to express my utmost respect and appreciation for our faculty and staff who have worked tirelessly, creatively, and without complaint throughout the changes we’ve experienced over these last several months. Thank you for your skillful work and your encouraging spirit in it all. This year several of our faculty and staff have reached significant milestones—10, 20, 25, 30, 40, and even 50 years serving at BJU/BJA. What a blessing it is to have these dear servants of the Lord effectively ministering here through the years.
Yes, we plan to have in-person classes at BJA next school year! As we look toward our students’ return, we are developing protocols to provide a safe learning environment in our classrooms, playgrounds, assemblies, athletics, music programs …. Stay tuned for details of any adjustments to our typical procedures as that time comes closer.
Our Child Development Center, KinderKamp (rising K4 through rising 1st graders), and BASEcamp (for rising 2nd through rising 8th graders) opened this morning for children of BJU employees only and for limited hours (8–4:30). We plan to open these for our entire BJA family (currently enrolled students) on Monday, June 1, unless we’re providentially prevented from doing so.
On a side note, you may have heard about last week’s decision to cancel EDUcamp Jr. and EDUcamp for 2020. This decision does not affect the opening of CDC, KinderKamp, or BASEcamp.
K3–12 report cards are available in Sycamore (documents tab). Dual credit grades are on transcripts only (also documents tab).
Graduating seniors will soon lose access to Sycamore. To be sure you have a copy of your unofficial transcript, we plan to email parents their graduating student’s unofficial transcript (PDF) as well as the “official” graduation photos taken as the senior received his or her diploma on the graduation stage last week. Watch for this sometime this week. Enjoy!
Here’s how to review your secondary student’s fall course requests as well as information about making changes to those requests (no charge through Monday, May 25).
Given the full plate we all have these days, this is all for now. We plan to send basic information about the fall—things we would normally mention right at the end of a school year—next week.
Praying for and rejoicing with you—we made it, the 2019–20 school year is complete!
