For the second year in a row, grades 1–12 met at the Davis Field House for a new yearly tradition called the Unity Games. The class day was cut short in order for the varsity basketball teams to play the faculty.
The stands were a sea of blue as many wore the popular school spirit T-shirts. Playing an unusual five six-minute “quarters,” faculty from all grade levels hit the court. The girls interscholastic team played the women faculty in the first and third quarters with the men playing the rest of the time. The game time included the high school cheerleaders leading in school and class cheers.
At halftime students from all grade levels were involved in some challenging games. At the end of the time, the students easily won—though the crowd seemed to favor the faculty. The games provided fun, fellowship and a break from classes for everyone at BJA.
The games were preceded by elementary students wearing items to support their country and its armed forces in addition to badly mismatched attire, crazy hats and glasses, and school logo apparel—all to show their school spirit. The elementary school Spirit Week proved a colorful, creative and competitive time. Students and teachers wore school buttons with their unique outfits and competed in lighthearted games for the opportunity to be named “Most Spirited Class.” The week culminated in the Unity Games.
