Having reached the halfway mark of the competition season, the Bob Jones Academy Forensics team participated in two forensics tournaments during their Christmas break.
The Laird Lewis Invitational, held Jan. 3-4 at Myers Park High School in Charlotte, N.C., featured teams from seventeen states. The following BJA students won individual awards:
Micah Samuels – First Place, Extemporaneous Team Debate
Jonathan Savoy – Semi-finalist in Novice Lincoln-Douglas Debate
Elliot Lovegrove – Semi-finalist in Extemporaneous Speaking
Marina Shew – Double Octafinalist in Varsity Lincoln-Douglas Debate
Julianne Doney – Quarterfinalists in Original Oratory
Jacquelynne Perry – Quarterfinalist in Impromptu Speaking
Additionally, BJA participated in the Hillcrest High School Invitational on January 11 which featured teams from South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee. The team won the third place sweepstakes trophy at the HHS Invitational. The following BJA students won individual awards:

Marina Shew – First Place, Lincoln-Douglas Varsity Debate
Jonathan Savoy – Second Place, Lincoln-Douglas Novice Debate
Micah Samuels and Elliott Kelley – Third Place, Public Forum Debate
Jacquelynne Perry – Third Place, Impromptu speaking
Anne Nguyen – Third Place, Novice Reading
Haley Brammer – Fourth Place, Prose
Lauren Jacquette – Fifth Place, Declamation
