Ready to move beyond math basics? A group of sixth-graders in the MathCounts after-school math club are ready to embrace the challenge. MathCounts is a national program that uses coaching and competitions to promote interest in math. Students meet weekly to work on problems both individually and in a group setting using paper and pencils, calculators, and the elementary school’s new iPad lab. The program, directed by math teacher David LeBlanc, is open to all sixth-grade students who enjoy math and are interested in being challenged while being exposed to advanced mathematical concepts applied in various settings.
