There aren’t many who can say they have felt a tarantula walking on their hand, provided a perch for a chameleon or handled a massive Burmese python, but first-graders at BJA can add those activities to their list of experiences. Randy Miller, more commonly known as “The Critter Keeper,” made a special appearance at BJA recently and brought the first-grade science animal unit to a phenomenal climax. The Critter Keeper taught the children about a wide variety of creatures as well as how to choose and care for a pet, how to respond to dangerous animals and how to identify poisonous reptiles. He also focused on incredible characteristics of animals that continually point to an omnipotent Creator. While extremely informative about animals, the presentation also included a number of life lessons—such as responding to fear, using your tongue for right, and being a “new creature.”
